My understanding is that <> is just a different syntax for !=. In the table of 
comparison operators, they should have the exact same description or it should be 
explicit that they behave the same. As it is, it's implied that <> doesn't do type 
juggling, which would make it behave more like !== (but not exactly, I suppose).

This bug has been fixed in the documentation's XML sources. Since the
online and downloadable versions of the documentation need some time
to get updated, we would like to ask you to be a bit patient.
