This happens with IMP 2.2  on big mailboxes
using UW IMAPD.

What version of the c-client library are you using?

This used to happen with older (buggy) versions of c-client.  Try a recent version, like 4.7c, from ftp://ftp.cac.washington.edu/imap/.
