If mhash is depricated, and being omitted from distributions i.e. remi,  what is the replacement for mhash_keygen_s2k as used in Joomla helper.php ?

After the internal emulation layer for some of the mhash wrapper functions thats also supported by ext/hash was written, no such algorithm for s2k was implementing meaning that as of 5.3.0 this algorithm is no longer available.

I wrote a note about this in the 5.3 upgrade guide for future reference.
