func_get_arg() (and presumably the other functions to deal with variable arguments) had a very, very minor BC break in 5.3: they no longer work within scripts included from within the function's scope.

This is documented on the func_get_args() manual page, but isn't listed in the migration guide at present.

This bug has been fixed in the documentation's XML sources. Since the
online and downloadable versions of the documentation need some time
to get updated, we would like to ask you to be a bit patient.
