In fact, it appears that 'split' is not functioning either (or is the cause of the "ereg" problem also).
(I'm creating a new 'report', because your system won't let me edit the original entry...)

I have 'stared' at the "ereg" documentation long enough to see that the 'key' to 'splitting' up the string is the parenthesis that have to be placed around the 'pattern segments' you want to 'capture'.

All's well, and I continue on... (wee, wee, wee)
