The documentation refers to PHP 6 in several places. And since the PHP 6 we once 
knew and loved died, the documentation needs updated.

Attached[1] is a proposed patch to do this.

Not included in this patch is the removal of three functions from the docs: 
is_binary(), is_buffer(), and is_unicode()
