Confusing thing appears when reading data with using stream filters. I discovered that "offset" is applied to original stream, while "maxlen" is applied to the stream processed by filter(s). Please, update documentation and remove the following partly incorrect online note:

This bug has been fixed in the documentation's XML sources. Since the
online and downloadable versions of the documentation need some time
to get updated, we would like to ask you to be a bit patient.
