Thank you for taking the time to write to us, but this is not
a bug. Please double-check the documentation available at
http://www.php.net/manual/ and the instructions on how to report
a bug at http://bugs.php.net/how-to-report.php

--enable-mhash enables the mhash backward compatibility layer within the hash extension, which allows the old mhash* functions to be used with the new extension.

That information is not listed in http://php.net/mhash, http://php.net/hash, nor http://php.net/manual/en/migration53.php. A simple Google search for "mhash backward compatibility" returns zero results. If this is actually documented, please tell me where it is.

In either case, the configure option still needs updating, since the description is wrong.

This bug has been fixed in the documentation's XML sources. Since the
online and downloadable versions of the documentation need some time
to get updated, we would like to ask you to be a bit patient.

Thank you for the report, and for helping us make our documentation better.
