if(!isset($pim_user)){
	print "Not logged in.  \n";
	print "<a class=blue href=\"index.php?mode=login\" >Login</a> | \n";
	print "<a class=blue href=\"index.php?mode=reg_user\" >Register</a>\n";
} else {
    list($UserName) = $pim_user;
	print "Welcome $UserName.  \n";
	print "<a class=blue href=\"logout.php\" >Logout</a> | \n";
	print "<a class=blue href=\"index.php?mode=user_update\" >User Info</a>\n";
}

in php3 and if statement was false, it will show username from cookie (ie rtolman) with php4 and exact code I get out put of only first character of username. (ie r)

I access this at a web hosting company, where php is executed out of my cgi-bin directory

Please contact me if more info is neccessary at email above.
