In line ~30619 in file configure (php-4.0.0) there is an error.
It keep tells me that it can't find zlib, but I have it!
And, yes, the path it's ok. It's realy a bug.
Look at this patch:
-if eval "test \"`echo '$ac_cv_lib_'$ac_lib_var`\" = yes"; then
+if [ "test \"`echo '$ac_cv_lib_'$ac_lib_var`\" = yes" ]; then

Please provide the version of zlib you are using, and a copy of your
./configure line.
