I have installed Perl. (Default RPM from RedHat)
I can compile without a problem if i use: php-4.0RC1.tar.gz

Please read "http://www.php.net/FAQ.php#6.11", and try the suggestions
there. Upgrading to the latest version of php (4.0.1pl2) wouldn't hurt.
