Alas, it had a bug and didn't build on some compilers, so pajoye fixed it:

...and 5.2 branch remains broken.
Please apply the same patch to 5.2 (i tested it and fixes the issue) or undo jani's.

This bug has been fixed in CVS.

Snapshots of the sources are packaged every three hours; this change
will be in the next snapshot. You can grab the snapshot at
http://snaps.php.net/.
