This problem was pointed out last week that the installer on the downloads page for 5.2.5 was corrupt. The reference to it is : http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=43230

I would use the snaps.php.net but it is not recommended for production level use. I am curious when the fixed installer will be available via the mirors on the download page.

This bug has been fixed in CVS. Since the websites are not directly
updated from the CVS server, the fix might need some time to spread
across the globe to all mirror sites, including PHP.net itself.
