Please try using this CVS snapshot:

  http://snaps.php.net/php5.2-latest.tar.gz

For Windows (zip):

  http://snaps.php.net/win32/php5.2-win32-latest.zip

For Windows (installer):

  http://snaps.php.net/win32/php5.2-win32-installer-latest.msi

The bundled PCRE library is upgraded to 7.2 in CVS, perhaps it fixes this issue too. (assuming you are using the bundled library..)

Thanks for your reply.

I'm using the bundled PCRE library. I've just tried the development snapshot and the problem is gone. :)

By the way, will this fix be in the next release?

Yes it will. There were some issues in the previous PCRE libs, apparently this was one of them.

Great, thanks!

Sure, development versions eventually become releases.

Hi, I'm having the same problem.
Php CLI exits abruptly and prints segmentation fault (core dump).
I'm also working under a Ubuntu server 8.04.4 LTS - Hardy
Can you tell me more on how to install or what to do with: http://snaps.php.net/php5.2-latest.tar.gz
I'm sort of new with PHP...
Thanks
