mysql_connect fails to connect to any remote MySQL databases under Vista RC2 running PHP 5.2 and apache 2.2 (even with all firewalls etc turned off), but the same script works on XP and will connect to localhost. Bug also reported (by someone else) at the MySQL bug database: http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=24212

Seems likely to be a security issue in vista but I thought I should flag it up since it could become a problem once more people start to switch.

It isn't a bug per se, but as I say I thought someone in development should be notified that there is an issue here, so this seemed a more appropriate venue than any of the ones listed on the support page. Anyway if you're happy that this is a problem at the microsoft end thats fine.
