Using apache 1.3.12 on Red Hat Linux 6.0 with php beta 4 patch level 1 built in as a module, apachectl restart or killall -HUP httpd causes the apache daemon to segfault. If the apache daemon is stopped with apachectl stop and then restarted a few seconds later with apachectl start, this problem is not encountered. This is not using the Redhat distribution but compiled from source.

That is the expected behaviour. Apache does not handle changed DSOs not very well.
