the result for $a is 40 exactly.
you can check it but i donk know why the if choosed that it is different. the problem is with the result that this take from the equation. if you print the result this show 40 but if you compare this with 40 say that is different

Floating point values have a limited precision. Hence a value might 
not have the same string representation after any processing. That also
includes writing a floating point value in your script and directly 
printing it without any mathematical operations.
