I have compiled php4 with session support for shared memory via mm library (1.0.12).
Setting the configuration variable session.save_handler to "mm" leads to the following error message:

PHP Fatal error: Failed to initialize session module ...

when calling session_register("var").
Apache subsequently SegVs

Sessions work with the standard "file" handler

Narrowed down the problem to PHP_GINIT_FUNCTION(ps_mm),
ext/session/mod_mm.c:200 not being called.
Thus, the session cache doesn't get initialized.

Fixed in cvs
