The strtotime function causes unreasonably high cpu usage and 
eventually core dump

Reproduce code:
---------------
date_default_timezone_set ('America/New_York');                                                       
echo strtotime('5 january 2006+3day +1day');   

Expected result:
----------------
1136782800

Actual result:
--------------
The request just hangs
