I searched for similar bugs and found someone who had the same compile errors. It was recommended that s/he install the libc headers. I have mine installed when compiling.

What does

$ grep SYS_RESOURCE config.h

output? <sys/resource.h> needs to be included, please verify that it exists.

Your /usr/include symlinks or files themselves are out of whack. You have upgraded your Linux kernel without making the appropriate upgrades to your header files. You need glibc-2.1.3 and glibc-devel-2.1.3 installed.
