I had to explicitly put a reference to '-lresolv' in the Makefile. I had to do this for Solaris as well
as Linux 6.1.

This is usually caused by compiling against the wrong set of headers (i.e. bind 4 headers, bind 8 libs).

Specifying LIBS explicitly is usually not necessary, at least I don't have to do it anywhere (be it on Solaris, AIX, Linux, or *BSD).

I'd like to see further confirmation that there are valid cases where our autoconf detection fails (we do check for libresolv).

If you have further facts, please submit them to us.
