Description:
------------
Upon a fresh install of PHP 4.3.10, install.txt contains the following text:

Apache 2.0.x on Microsoft Windows

   This section contains notes and hints specific to Apache 2.0.x
   installs of PHP on Microsoft Windows systems. We also have
   instructions and notes for Apache 1.3.x users on a separate page.

     Note: You should read the manual installation steps first!

   Warning

   Do not use Apache 2.0.x and PHP in a production environment neither on
   Unix nor on Windows. For information on why, read the following FAQ
   entry

------------

There doesn't seem to be any FAQ entry to read, nor does nay other portion of install.txt explain why Apache 2 should not be used in production. Perhaps that limitation has been lifted? Or perhaps a URL is missing?

The Apache2 threading FUD is what the INSTALL file is referring to, and this is located at:

http://us2.php.net/manual/en/faq.installation.php#faq.installation.apache2

It appears someone got lazy and converted text to INSTALL, without preserving links -- this problem appears in more than one place.

I changed this FAQ entry. The install.txt file also needs to be changed, though.

The piece of text that refers to the FAQ was changed to:

 We do not recommend using a threaded MPM in production
 with Apache2. Use the prefork MPM instead, or use
 Apache1. For information on why, read the following

And the FAQ title to:

 Why shouldn't I use Apache2 with a threaded MPM in a
 production environment?

See these diffs:

http://cvs.php.net/diff.php/phpdoc/en/language-snippets.ent?r1=1.125&r2=1.126
http://cvs.php.net/diff.php/phpdoc/en/faq/installation.xml?r1=1.40&r2=1.41

This bug report is due to an "old" install.txt compared to a new PHP Manual build. So, this bug is officially bogus although it's understandable why it was opened.

If someone feels the script that generates install.txt from the doc sources should include links then open a new bug report as that's a different issue.

Sorry. Rasmus had changed the FAQ. For some reason I thought he'd sent a patch.

Excuse my inaccuracy.

here they are: http://testes.aborla.net/install-docs.zip

INSTALL -> php-src/INSTALL
install.txt -> php-src/win32/install.txt

This bug is bogus. If it were to remain open (every time a word is changed in the install section), it would remain open for an eternity. The INSTALL docs are updated before every release.
