not really sure this is a bug, but anyway:
if configure with-config-file=/path1 and install and later reconfigure with parameter --with-config-file=/path2 and compile it makes no sense - php.ini still is searched in /path1

> php -i | grep php\.ini
Configuration File (php.ini) Path => /path1/php.ini

Did you remove config.cache or run make clean?

no, but for example --prefix=/usr works finr w/o removing config.cache

This bug has been fixed in CVS.

Snapshots of the sources are packaged every three hours; this change
