I compiled php4.03b engine with Apache 1.3.9 using egcs 2.91.66.
When I start apache engine, it says php is configured in apache error log file, how ever when I request php document, my browser try to save that php file.

After that, I reinstalled php 3.x version, which works fine.

Any more information, Please send me a mail.
I am willing to, want to use PHP4.x, so please help!

I got the exactly same problem and nothing that I have tryed maket it works! This problem occurs in a Linux Red Hat 6.1 with kernell 2.2.13 on a I386.

read the installation instructions again, particularly the bits about
adding "AddType" lines to the Apache config.
