./configure says:
  --disable-xml           Disable XML support.
but that option appears to be ignored by configure.
Examining the script suggests that the correct option is
--disable-libxml

I don't know if the script or --help documentation is wrong

My apologies. Please diregard this bug. Both of those are valid options and I was confused which one my particular configure needed
