./configure \                  
--disable-overload \           
--disable-ipv6 \               
--disable-debug \              
--with-zlib=/usr/local \       
--enable-trans-sid \           
--enable-ftp  \                
--without-pear \               
--enable-mbstring \            
--with-apxs=/usr/httpd/bin/apxs
the above configure fails to compile, if you remove mbstring it will compile and run

compile error:
rt.lo Zend/zend_multibyte.lo Zend/zend_execute.lo sapi/cli/php_cli.lo sapi/cli/
etopt.lo main/internal_functions_cli.lo -lz -lm -lsocket -lc  -o sapi/cli/php  
gcc: Zen: No such file or directory                                            
make: *** [sapi/cli/php] Error 1

it WILL compile if you add --disable-cli

I do need to use cli and mbstring as well as pear.

Sorry, we don't support SCO servers for the obvious reasons.
