Description:

Error logging in apache ( with mod_php ) log file even if
error_log = (file) is defined in php.ini


Reproduce code:
---------------
php.ini
.....
error_log = /var/log/php/error.log
.....


Expected result:
----------------
Error logging into defined php.ini log file

Actual result:
--------------
Missing important notice that :
1st php.ini specified error_log file must exist
2nd it must be owned by apache uid
3rd it must ( of course ... ) be chmod to rw for apache uid

This bug has been fixed in the documentation's XML sources. Since the
online and downloadable versions of the documentation need some time
to get updated, we would like to ask you to be a bit patient.

Thank you for the report, and for helping us make our documentation better.

AFAIK the file doesn't need to exist and doesn't need to be owned by Apache (tested).
