ereg is crashing apache when the variable data begins with a ".".  There are probably better ways to do this, but , it does work with ALL previous versions tested. Not able to get a core dump or backtrace.

Soalris 7 x86 on PII 400
Apache 1.3.9 with PHP as DSO

./configure --with-apxs=/opt/apache/bin/apxs --with-config-file-path=/opt/apache/conf  --without-gd --with-yp --with-ldap=/opt

cannot duplicate with B3-RC4, on Solaris 2.7 (not sure if it's x86, tho....it's my ISP)
