Reading w/ fread from the socket causes PHP to crash:

fsockopen($server,$port,&$errno,&$errstr,$timeout);
$str =  fread($handle,4000);

I don't know if fread is intended for use with sockets
but it worked with PHP 3.

Described bug does not occur on Win98/PHP 4.1pl2 or WinNT 4.0/PHP4.0.0 CGI version.

Contacted user - advised them to upgrade to a newer release of PHP.

Will reopen bug if user contacts me to let me know that they are still experiencing the bug with a newer version of PHP
