More a enhancement than a bug.

You may be interested to know there's a Net_Geo class in PEAR that also does IP based lookups. It currently uses caida.org and localizer but I could easily extend it to use ip-to-country as well.

Class does caching etc.

We are not using any PEAR component as it would be very hard to fix bugs in those [on all 100 mirrors]. And we would not like to coordinate those mirrors' PEAR setups. Also we need to close control on the source to speed up things, or disable when needed.
