Same problem on Stampede Linux apache configure failing
sanity check, indicating compiler is not ANSI C. Reported in
bugs #2140 (closed) and #2119 (analyzed)..

Lastest CVS received -14/09/1999
gcc-2.95.1
autoconf-2.13
automake-1.4
libtool-1.3.3
bison-1.25

** Apache compile without PHP - YES
** Apache compile with PHP (no db support) - YES
** Apache compile with PHP (w/sybase) - NO, makefile fails

seems if the php module is configured "--with-sybase" or "--with-mysql" (the two that I tried) it will fail the apache configure...

*update*
#> cd php4
#> ./configure \
   --with-sybase=/home/sybase \
   --with-apache=../apache_1.3.9 \
   --enable-track-vars
#> make install
#> ../apache_1.3.9
#> cd src
#> vi Configure

** added "-v" for sanity check option to apache's
** 'src/configure' file. (as suggested in php3 FAQ).

#> cd ..
#> ./configure \
   --prefix=/www \
   --activate-module=src/module/php4/libphp4.a

** appears error from "libphp4.module" in LIB
** "-lsybdb" No such file or directory

** RESOLVED **

I should be using "--with-sybase-ct", not
"--with-sybase".

Not sure of the difference at this point
