If I add the following line in httpd.conf:

LoadModule php4_module c:\php\sapi\php4apache2.dll

apache does not start/restart anymore with the following msg:

warn] (720995)The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread 
exit or an application request.  : winnt_accept: Asynchronous AcceptEx failed.

XP SP1 (without any firewall enabled)
Apache 2.0.43-win32-nossl
php (tried with 4.3.0, latest STABLE CVS snapshot, and win32-latest (4.4.0)

After a reboot it worked.

Need to reboot XP after having installed PHP under XP.

What a stupid overlook. Sorry.
