I use php 4.2.2 as a dynamic module to apache 1.3.26

php: ./configure --enable-sockets --with-pdflib
      --with-ncurses --enable-claendar
      --with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql
      --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs --with-ldap
      --enable-ftp --with-openssl=/usr/local/ssl
      --enable-debug

apache: ./configure \
        --with-layout=Apache
        --enable-module=so
        --enable-module=ssl
        --enable-shared=ssl
        --add-module=mod_frontpage.c
        --enable-shared=frontpage

I get a segmentation fault as soon as the server loads both the frontpage- and the php-module and tries to serve a page (htm, html, php). It will serve other file types like .gif, .ppt and so on.
The server runs ok if I load any other combination of modules, it only crashes for frontpage + php.
mod_frontpage is the appropriate version for the 1.3.26

server log:

Can you rebuild your php with --enable-debug and see if you can give us a bit better of a backtrace?

I already have --enable-debug compiled into php, sorry.
But I tried a different frontpage module, yesterday, and it works together with php. I now have both frontpage and php as DSO modules running. The new mod_frontpage does NOT patch the apache source, as did the old.

Thanks for your answer!
