Not really a bug, and maybe I've been smoking too much banana leafs, but my php 4.2.0 windows binaries came with php.ini-* files that contained:

;extension gd.dll

while this particular version of php comes with gd2.dll
There were some other files (I believe install.txt) that mentioned gd.dll as well.

Anyway, grep "gd.dll" * -ir

Known bug, they will be included in 4.2.1 which is due release pretty soon.
