short description of environment. I am requesting from win32 browser to linux webapplication. i defined a subdomain in hosts file (win32) that points to the linux server.

following line:

$fp = @fopen ("http://mgwdev.logelinux/index.php", "r");

this returns false even i know that this url is correct. i typed it 100 times in the browser.

This line

$fp = @fopen
("http://logelinux/moregroupware_dev/index.php", "r");

will return true, but its the same location. mgwdev.logelinux is a virtual host in apache.

I am a little bit clueless. I didnt found any comments on this. I hope i am not weird.

You need a real DNS server.
To avoid this problem, you manually create a HTTP request to the right IP address using fsockopen.
