the problem is that I try the thing

$_SESSION = array_merge($_SESSION, pg_fetch_array($res, 0, PGSQL_ASSOC));

it makes segmentation falt

may be I try something wrong, but segfault is not right too

actually the problem is only with
$_SESSION = $somearray;
(no array_merge is needed) for a backtrace i will try later, no time now :(

I can not reproduce this with PHP 4.2.0RC3.
