PHP3 fails to compile with Apache on RedHat 6.0 with the following error :

gcc -g -O2 -O2   -I. -I.   -I../apache_1.3.6/src/include -I../apache_1.3.6/src/os/unix                              -c functions/gdttf.c -o functions/gdttf.o
functions/gdttf.c:20: freetype.h: No such file or directory
make: *** [functions/gdttf.o] Error 1

I have tried removing libttf* from /usr/lib as suggested in the mail lists, but this did not help. Any help would be appreciated, as I would love to get PHP3 working on my site.

Silly RH6 installs the freetype rpm by default, but it does not install the freetype-devel rpm.
If you just install the freetype-devel rpm this problem will go away.
