I have multiple files (.mp3) that have strange characters in them, and apparently, PHP doesn't recognize them as files. PHP totally skips them. Is there a plan to support Unicode?

PHP currently *recognises* filenames regardless of the character type, I can't replicate this at all. Strongly suggest you upgrade if you haven't already and re-open this if you still have that problem.

Unicode filenames will be reported wrongly (ie as blobs and symbols) on any MS system prior to XP. That's an MS issue, not a PHP issue.
