I transfer all my php3 files from i386 to Alpha server
and some (not all) ereg() statements failed to work
correct (return FALSE while should return TRUE). 
I'm 100% sure what my data and code correct, since
it already works for a hulf of a year without any problems.

The regex library used by PHP3 is 64-bit clean. I myself have never encountered a bug from the library on Alpha systems. There must be something else which is biting you.
