When I write the following:

$monat = 01;
echo $monat;

the echovalue is: 1

but with:

$monat = 08;
echo $monat;

the echovalue is: 0

The 0 means that the number is in octal representation. Octal 8 doesn't exists, octal uses only 0-7.
