 './configure' '--with-apxs=/usr/local/apache-1.3.17/bin/apxs' '--enable-memory-limit' '--enable-ftp' '--with-gd' '--with-mysql' '--with-bcmath' '--with-mm'

No other parameters of date() cause the problem.

compiled with egcs-2.91.66 (needed for mysql compile) on alpha
