When configuring php 4.0.3pl1 (also tried 4.0.2/4.0.1) using
	--with-xpm-dir=/usr
breaks the configure script ... when trying to use --with-gettext, or --with-zlib ... if those 2 options are excluded, the configure does execute, but the compile fails on the final 'ld' command ...

when u leave out the --with-xpm-dir, it compiles perfectly on rh7... though the config script does prompt you to please include --with-xpm-dir since its 'required' for gd 1.8+

Please try latest snapshot from http://snaps.php.net
as I think I have fixed this already.

If it still doesn't work (when using the latest snapshot) please include the
full error messages into this report.
