This is using the yesterday's snapshot from snaps.php.net.

When I load the php4 DSO, any local site that interacts with MySQL spits back "Page contains no data." Local sites that do not interact with MySQL load just fine (of course).

In the Apache (versions 1.3.9 on OpenBSD 2.6 and 1.3.12 on OpenBSD 2.7) error_log:

/usr/libexec/ld.so: Undefined symbol "_mysql_init" called from httpd:/usr/lib/apache/modules/libphp4.so at 0x402fd198

Is there an immediate workaround for this?

Does this still happen with the latest snapshot?
