The documentation show only DOMDocument allowed but method actually allows both DOMDocument and SimpleXMLElement as I have test in PHP version 5.3.x up through 5.5.x

It should look something like the following:

string XSLTProcessor::transformToXML ( object $doc )
...
Parameters
----------
doc
    The DOMDocument or SimpleXMLElement object to be transformed.
...

Just wondering what's going on with this its now going on 6 months for a 5 minute fix to the docs.

Perhaps a speedier outcome might be to use the PHP Docbook Online Editor to create a patch to the documentation for this change:  https://edit.php.net/?project=PHP&perm=en/xsltprocessor.transformtoxml.php

The file can be worked on and, once satisfied, the change can be submitted as a patch to be reviewed by a member of the documentation team.  These generally get processed much quicker than bugs.

This bug has been fixed in the documentation's XML sources. Since the
online and downloadable versions of the documentation need some time
to get updated, we would like to ask you to be a bit patient.
