After installing PHP/3.0.2a with Apache/1.3.1 Apache send in the SERVER_SOFTWARE variable:

           PHP/3.0.2a PHP/3.0.2a

this should be:

           Apache/1.3.1 PHP/3.0.2a

I could not fix this. I installed with the Quick Install option.

This could not possibly be a PHP bug.  You are running the wrong httpd, I bet.
