I have been running IIS for over 2 years continuously with hardly ever a crash.
After I installed PHP 4.0 ISAPI, the IIS web the server started crashing. 
Three times in about a month.
I'm not sure exactly what is it, could be fast repeating bad urls from robots crawling through the site.
However if PHP crashes it should not also crash IIS.
There doesn't seem to be enough crash protection and graceful exits whenever various errors occur.

Note that the ISAPI version is not as stable as the CGI version.  Please try the most recent release of PHP.
