Description: ------------ It would be nice if the PHP documentation included notes on the function pages for functions that fail on 32bit servers and files larger than 2GB. For example, is_file file_exists realpath (as of php 5.3.0) filesize (and a bunch of others) For example, the filesize function includes this note: Note: Because PHP's integer type is signed and many platforms use 32bit integers, filesize() may return unexpected results for files which are larger than 2GB. For files between 2GB and 4GB in size this can usually be overcome by using sprintf("%u", filesize($file)). It would be very helpful if all the builtin functions that suffer this fate with large files on 32bit systems had similar official notes.
