Description:
------------
I reported on news.php.net that accessing the newsgroup via nntp server frequently times out. Daniel Brown recommended that if the problem persists, I open a bug report.

Here (http://i51.tinypic.com/ix6ntk.jpg) is an image of the timeout message.

Here (http://i51.tinypic.com/10dwp09.jpg) is a copy of the config for the news.php.net server

Expected result:
----------------
I expect the news reader to fetch a news article from the server.

Actual result:
--------------
When I try to read an article, 8/10 times I get a message that the news server has times out.

I saw a lot of timeouts when I was looking up a few articles on the weekend too, and it still appears to be happening now. Connections are generally closed within a minute of being opened without any error or goodbye message.

The news server is now basically entirely unresponsive: connections generally
time out, and if they succeed, then time out immediately.

This has been going on for months.

For those of us who prefer using the nntp server, it makes it almost useless.

Problem may be concurrent connections.

Same problem here. Makes the NNTP server unusable for me.

I'm experiencing this as well - Latest Thunderbird (6.0); It is periodic, meaning I can fetch a few messages - read a few and then get timeouts for an undetermined amount of time. After that time, I am able to get a few more messages.

Can someone please try to raise the timeout value in the colobus config? To 420, maybe?

I remember having had a lot of timeouts long ago, but since quite a while it
works pretty well for me. Has anybody else still timeout issues?
