PHP4 (4.0.0) does not seem to pay attention to any settings configured in the php.ini file. I compiled the Apache module with the --use-config-file-path option and PHPINFO() returns the correct path for the file.

However, changing items in the configuration file, such as turning off magic_quotes_gpc and such do not change the behaviour of PHP or the output from PHPINFO().

I removed all tabs from the file to see if that was the problem. I also have re-compiled it on several different boxes to the same effect.

The option is --with-config-file-path, not --use-config-file-path.

This bug should not have been closed.

Even though I incorrectly stated the compile flag, I did use the correct --with-config-file-path.

PHPINFO() outputs the correct pathname for the configuration file. It simple does not acknowledge any values set in the file. I have reproduced this on 4 different RH6, 6.1 and 6.2 boxes with different versions of Apache. The Win32 version doesn't seem to exhibit the problem.

Please make sure you are putting in correct path and do not put "php.ini" filename.
If it still doesn't work, please do:
strace httpd -X
and see what php.ini file it tries to open.
