Description:
------------
While SplFileObject has many functions that mimic stream's interface, including fseek, ftell, fwrite, fgets and fscanf, it does not have fread for some reason - so it is not possible to read specific number of bytes from the object.

Duplicate there: http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=36289

Having a SplBinaryFileObject class would be awesome.
